Molester held after girl, 10, points him out to dad

-

A father’s quick response to his daughter being molested led to the arrest of the culprit.

The 10-year-old girl had followed her brothers to a convenience store on Friday evening, said district police chief Supt A. Sahak Rahmat.

“A man came out of nowhere and hugged her from behind. He touched her breasts with both his hands. The little girl kept quiet out of fear.”

When she saw her brothers walking towards the counter to make a payment, she escaped from her assailant and ran towards them, he said.

Supt Sahak said the girl cried all the way home and complained about pain in her breasts and related the incident to her 24-year-old brother, who immediately informed their parents.

“The father went straight to the store (in Kampung Berjaya 2 near here) and asked the girl to point out the man,” he said, adding that the father soon called the police.

The suspect admitted to the crime in front of the father and the police, he said.

According to Supt Sahak, the suspect failed to produce valid identification documents and was brought to the Kota Kinabatangan police
