Pregnant woman takes part in Top Tower Run

-

AN Indonesian woman who is seven months pregnant won the admiration of many for taking part in The Top Tower Run 2018.

Unlike other participants, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported Norwida, 35, only walked up 10 flights of stairs to reach The Top on the 68th floor of Komtar, Penang’s tallest building.

Still, many cheered when she crossed the finish line with her husband Yoga, 30, on Sunday.

The competition saw participants running for 2km, starting from Komtar Walk and passing by Komtar, Prangin Mall and 1st Avenue before tackling the stairs from the 6th floor to the 68th floor in Komtar.

The daily quoted Yoga as saying they thought the competition only involved running on flat ground.

But after learning about the stair climbing, he still encouraged his wife to take up the challenge.

They then took the elevator to the 58th floor before starting.

He said at one point, his wife experienced stomach discomfort and wanted to give up.

“I told her not to give up, as the 68th floor offers a magnificent aerial view of the state,” he said.

“We took a short break and continued on. I am proud of her.”

> Sin Chew Daily reported that Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, one of the presenters at the 2018 Golden Horse Awards, said he had not been to such a big occasion in a while.

He only said “I am Andy Lau” before the hall erupted into rapturous applause.

He said he first came to the awards night in 1987 and still remembered shivering while holding the letter in his hand.

Acclaimed director Zhang Yimou took the award.
