15 appointed to entrepreneurship council
FIFTEEN members have been selected to be a part of the National Higher Education Entrepreneurship Council (MKPTN).
Chaired by Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik, the council comprises members from the private sector.
These include AirAsia Group executive chairman and Tune Group chief executive Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and CIMB Group chief executive Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz.
Members are appointed for two years. “The council will coordinate and regulate entrepreneurship development and education in higher education institutions and ensure that they are in line with government policies.
“They will be the bridge that links academia and to the government, entrepreneurs, industry and alumni, the driving force behind the long-term change in higher education institutions’ entrepreneurship culture, and will influence national policies that have relevance and impact on entrepreneurship development and education,” Dr Maszlee said after handing over the appointment letters to the members.
MKPTN, he said, consists of members with experience and expertise, who are able to contribute to the creation of ideas and entrepreneurship development in higher education institutions.
To promote entrepreneurial development among higher education institutions students, the ministry devised programmes such as knowledge sharing and best practices between MKPTN members and student entrepreneurs.
“I hope MKPTN members will take the opportunity to engage higher education institutions and provide opportunities for more graduates to be placed in their respective organisations to undergo industrial training and apprenticeship,” he added.
