The past and present key players of Tabung Haji

> Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim was former chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) until May 14, 2018. He tendered his resignation following the 14th General Election.

Azeez was appointed member of the TH Board in 2011 and made chairman on July 1, 2013.

The Baling MP used to be active in the non-profit organisation Putra 1Malaysia Club.

TH recently lodged two police reports against Azeez and former CEOs Tan Sri Ismee Ismail and Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah following internal investigations into past transactions led by TH’s new management.

> Tan Sri Ismee Ismail was TH’s former group managing director and chief executive officer from 2006 to 2016.

He joined Media Prima Bhd on June 1, 2017 and served as chairman from Aug 1, 2017 till May 21, 2018.

He started out his career at Arab Malaysian Development Bhd as a management accountant and served in key leadership roles with Malaysia’s Shell Group of Companies. He also previously served on the boards of key business institutions in Malaysia, including as chairman of Syarikat Takaful Malaysia from 2009 to 2015, chairman of TV AlHijrah and board member at Johor Corporation, KFC Holdings Malaysia Bhd and 1MDB.

> Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah was the previous group managing director and chief executive officer of TH.

Johan joined TH in January 2015 as its deputy managing director and CEO and completed his two-year contract at TH on June 30, 2018.

Prior to joining TH, he was group managing director/CEO of BIMB Holdings Bhd since May 2008.

He held various senior positions while he was with Bursa Malaysia Bhd and has extensive experience in corporate finance, capital market and Islamic banking.

> Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof is current chairman of Lembaga Tabung Haji. He joined the TH board on July 10, 2018.

Md Nor was director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd from April 1, 2006 to July 2018. He spent a significant amount of his working career with CIMB Group Holdings Bhd as director, and was also the president/CEO of Bank of Commerce (M) Bhd (now known as CIMB Bank Bhd). He was appointed chairman of CIMB Foundation on Jan 4, 2016.

Md Nor was managing director of Malaysia Airlines System from February 2001 to March 2004. He completed his term as executive chairman of the Securities Commission on March 31, 2006.

> Datuk Seri Zukri Samat is the current group managing director/CEO of TH. He joined the pilgrims’ board on July 13, 2018 after retiring from BIMB Holdings Bhd as group CEO from Feb 18, 2015 to June 8, 2017.

Zukri also served Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd as the managing director from June 9, 2006 to June 8, 2017.

Prior to joining Bank Islam, he was executive director of Khazanah Nasional Bhd. He also served as managing director of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd (Danaharta), a national asset management company set up by the government during the 1997/1998 financial crisis.

Before his stint at Danaharta, he served various banking and financial institutions, including Credit Agricole Indosuez Labuan, Commerce International Merchant Bankers and Public Bank.
