AFF Suzuki Cup tix being resold for up to RM800

-

PETALING JAYA: The mad scramble for tickets to watch the Malaysia-Vietnam football clash in the AFF Suzuki Cup continues, with hours away to the sell-out match.

So much so that online ticketing reselling platform Stubhub has a price tag of RM783.24 for a single ticket!

Tickets were originally priced at RM40 (open stand) and RM50 (grandstand) for the first-leg final which kicks off at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight, with the return match scheduled in Hanoi on Saturday.

Across Twitter and Facebook, scalpers are offering their tickets with asking prices starting at RM120.

Chances are that all these are going to be snapped up with desperate Harimau Malaya fans offering to pay up to RM200 for tickets on these social media platforms.

This has led the Harimau Malaya Facebook page to name and shame the scalpers.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed on its Facebook page on Sunday that 80,000 tickets had been snapped up to the dismay of many other fans who queued up for up to 16 hours.

On Instagram, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he sympathised with those who failed to purchase a ticket.

But he offered some consolation – the ministry and the Malaysia Stadiums Board will host a live screening of the match at the Axiata Arena next to the match venue.

The national team jersey is also flying off the shelves – both original and fake versions.

“All home jerseys of the national team were sold out two weeks ago. There is only a single away jersey left in XL size!” said MyKitZone shop assistant Mohd Azril Abdul Razak.

He said the telephone in his sports store at 3 Damansara Shopping Mall here had been ringing non-stop with customers wanting the Harimau Malaya jersey.
