Wan Saiful alleges graft in Perlis Bersatu

-

PETALING JAYA: Wan Saiful Wan Jan has revealed that he has lodged a police report alleging that the Perlis Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) falsified claims involving hundred of thousands of ringgit.

The National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) chairman said he lodged the report recently over alleged fraud at the Perlis Bersatu headquarters.

He said an individual then urged him to retract his report but he refused to do so.

“I’m not sure what the motive is. I’m not withdrawing it,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Wan Saiful claimed he was also offered huge sums of money to arrange a government contract that was worth millions of ringgit.

“I was also adamant not to get involved in arranging government contracts worth millions of ringgit to a firm linked to the children of a Bersatu leader in Perlis.

“I refuse to submit to the abuse of power,” he said, adding that he would not compromise on his integrity.

“I will not bow down to any pressure to acquire funds illegally for any individual regardless of their position in Perlis,” he said.

Wan Saiful’s statement follows Perlis Bersatu announcement on its decision to drop him as its state liaison secretary, saying that he was too preoccupied with his role as the PTPTN chairman.
