Negri MB: If car purchases fishy, report us to MACC

-

SEREMBAN: Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun has challenged his critics to report to the anti-graft body if they suspect anything amiss on the purchase of a fleet of Honda Accord cars.

He said it was actually ordered by the previous government and that they only took delivery of the cars in Sept.

“Please report to the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) if you think there is something fishy about the deal. I am prepared to be questioned,” Aminuddin told reporters yesterday.

He said this in response to some netizens, who had criticised the state administration for buying the cars.

They claimed that the state government had tried to hide this by purchasing the same model and colour as used by the previous administration.

Aminuddin said they only approved the purchase of one similar model for the use of the Deputy Speaker.

He said apart from himself, state executive councillors, state secretary, financial and legal officers and mufti received a new car each.

The entire fleet cost more than RM2mil.

Aminuddin pointed out that the previous administration had followed the regular procedure in acquiring the fleet.

“Under the law, the state can purchase a new fleet after four years,” he said, adding that even Barisan Nasional representatives did not question the purchase during the recent state assembly sitting.
