Umno’s Lokman Adam out on bail

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam has been released on police bail.

The Pemantau Malaysia Baru (PMB) president, who was arrested on Thursday night in connection with sedition investigat­ion, was seen leaving Dang Wangi police district headquarte­rs (IPD) at about 10.30am yesterday.

He was met by a group of supporters, which include fellow Umno member Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos.

When met by the press outside the IPD, Lokman said he was thankful for being released as he could now attend the nomination day for the Cameron Highlands by-electionto­day.

“I just want to say that no matter how many times we are locked up, our struggle will live on and continue.

“I was treated well by police personnel and officers and I salute their profession­alism,” he said.

He added that he has also lodged a police report alleging there is a cover up with regards to the investigat­ion into the murder of Fire and Rescue Department personnel Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, 24.

“Until I was arrested, no inquest has been conducted,” he added.

Lokman was detained on Thursday after he was called in by Bukit Aman CID in connection with an investigat­ion under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim had also confirmed that investigat­ion into Muhammad Adib’s murder has been completed.

“We have handed over the investigat­ion papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) and are now are waiting for further instructio­ns.”
