PETALING JAYA: Newcomers MIFA and Felda United have been handed tough opponents in their opening fixtures of the Super League.

MIFA, who were promoted after Felcra pulled out from the competition, face star-studded Melaka at the Hang Jebat Stadium while Felda will be playing against a rejuvenated Selangor at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Both matches will be played on Feb 2.

It will be a reunion of sorts for Selangor coach B. Sathianathan, who helped Felda gain promotion to the Super League last season when both teams clashed.

The first two games of the season will be Kuala Lumpur vs Pahang and Terengganu vs PKNS on Feb 1 at the Cheras Football Stadium and Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Kuala Terengganu, respectively.

Malaysian Football League (MFL) released the new fixtures on Friday.

MFL were still inspecting the stadiums and pitches and it should be completed next week.

During the Ramadan month, which starts on May 5 and ends on June 3, teams play their matches at 10pm. Ramadan fixtures are from May 12 to 26.

All eyes will be on the Charity Shield match, which will pit Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) against Perak at the Larkin Stadium on Feb 2.

It also doubles up as a league match where the match points are awarded.

JDT are the current holders of the title, and they have won it three times. Perak last won the trophy in 2006 when they beat Selangor 4-2 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
