New UMK v-c named
DEPUTY director-general of Higher Education Prof Dr Noor Azizi Ismail (pic) has been appointed as Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) vice-chancellor for a three-year term effective Jan 7.
He takes over from Prof Datuk Dr Husaini Omar whose contract has ended.
The Education Ministry in a statement, said Prof Noor Azizi was appointed based on his expertise, knowledge and performance as academic administrator at various levels.
Born on Jan 7, 1969, Prof Noor Azizi, 50, obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Master’s degree in Accounting Information Systems from the University of Memphis in the United States and a PhD in Accounting and Information Systems from Loughborough University, United Kingdom.
He began his academic career as a lecturer of accounting information systems at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He was then appointed dean of the UUM School of Business (Research and Innovation) and dean of UUM Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business.
Prof Noor Azizi previously served as UUM deputy vice-chancellor (Research and Innovation).
