PETALING JAYA: Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud has been appointed the new Immigration Department director-general.

Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alwi Ibrahim said the appointment is effective from today.

He said 47-year-old Khairul Dzaimee holds a Masters in Strategy and Diplomacy from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

“He began employment in public service in 1996. He has worked in various agencies and ministries, including the National Security Council and Home Ministry,” Alwi said in a statement yesterday.

Khairul Dzaimee has vast experience in security and immigration management, he added.

“He was also responsible for policies concerning immigration matters, foreign workers management and national registration issues due to his post as the Home Ministry deputy secretary-general (policy and control) from July 2018 to Jan 13, 2019,” he said.

On another matter, Alwi also announced that Datuk Jamil Rakon has been retained as the Home Ministry deputy secretary-general (management).

“This is due to his vast experience in public administration and management.

“He has a Masters in Human Resources Management from the Australian Institute of Criminology Canberra and he started his public service at the Defence Ministry in December 1992,” he said.

Alwi said he has no doubt that both men will assist in strengthening the Home Ministry and the Immigration Department.
