No howlers as Dragons disarm Wolf Warriors

-

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Westport Dragons are on a roll.

After shocking favourites San Miguel Alab Pilipinas on Wednesday, the side – led by Australian coach Jamie Pearlman – beat Chinese team Zhuhai Wolf Warriors 89-83 at the Maba Stadium yesterday.

In the first quarter, the Dragons took a slim 26-22 lead but grew in strength as they charged to commanding leads in the next two quarters.

However, the Wolf Warriors mounted a fightback in the last quarter but that was to no avail as the Dragons improved their record to 4-3 for the season.

The Warriors had no answer to the dominant Chris Eversley and Winston Shepard as both players played crucial roles in the match.

Eversley top scored with 24 points while Shepard scored 20.

Eversley, who is the leader in the side, also dished out five assists and did great defensive work by notching 10 rebounds.

The 25-year-old Shepard continues to be a force for the Dragons as he’s averaging 20.5 points, 12 rebounds, 6.3 assists.

The Wolf Warriors stay bottom of the league as they only have a win and 11 losses.
