JOHOR BARU: The academic credentials of Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian has been removed from the state government portal.

The change came after Osman was reported as saying that he felt responsible and directed all information relating to his diploma and degree from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to be taken down from official websites.

“I once studied at Kolej Pertanian Malaya (Malayan Agricultural College) before it was upgraded into UPM, but I never completed my studies.

“I did not know that several websites claimed I graduated with a diploma and a degree in accountancy from UPM,” he was quoted by a news portal here yesterday.

The news portal also quoted Osman, who is the state Pakatan Harapan chairman, issuing an apology to all Malaysians over the confusion and misunderstanding over his academic qualifications.

A check on the Johor government portal showed that amendments have been made on Osman’s background.

His education background has been removed and replaced by information on his career.

It was reported that Osman was among several politicians who came under fire after their qualifications were questioned by the public.

The Facebook page of Ops Johor questioned Osman’s education background and alleged that the Mentri Besar did not obtain a degree from UPM.
