Couple turn passion for burger cakes into a business

-

A COUPLE’S love for burgers motivated them to start their own business selling burger cakes, reported Harian Metro.

Siti Umairah Sabudin, 33, and her husband Muhamad Hasseni, 31, quit their jobs at a factory to focus on their burger business that they started four years ago in Kepala Batas, Penang.

“We decided to make it on our own and got into manufacturing. As time passed the demand for burger cakes grew,” said Siti Umairah, adding that they now have a retail space and workshop.

The couple produce burgers of different sizes priced between RM18 and RM480 a piece.

People have also ordered their burger cakes for weddings, engagement and birthday parties.

Siti Umairah said the meat patties and burger buns are entirely handmade with no preservatives.

“I used to ask my relative who is an expert in baking buns to help and I eventually learned how to make it myself,” said the mother of three.

Siti Umairah said she and her husband hoped to open their own cafe one day for the convenience of their customers.

> Nor Shahirah Mohd Fuad, 24, only experienced being a wife for four days before a horrible accident left her widowed, reported Berita Harian.

Nor Shahirah’s husband Fikri Ghazali, 33, died in a road accident on his way to work in Shah Alam on Monday.

When met at her in-law’s home in Kampung Pak Jah in Tumpat, Kelantan, Nor Shahirah said the couple wed on Feb 7 before returning to Shah Alam where they lived.

“Our reception was supposed to take place in April at my home in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur.

“We also planned to celebrate our honeymoon and at the same time have a family day celebration in Terengganu after Hari Raya,” she said.

Nor Shahirah said although she feels devastated, she had to control her emotions as she did not want to “torture” her husband’s soul.

“On the morning of the accident I prepared his breakfast before he left for work. After an hour, I got a call from a friend who said that my husband was involved in an accident and was taken to Shah Alam Hospital,” she said.

Nor Shahirah said although her husband has passed on, she will still maintain her relationship with her in-laws and will visit them at least once a month.
