Bersatu candidate keeping his focus on local issues

-

Muhammad Aiman Zainali wants to focus on local issues and leave national politics to his more senior colleagues.

The 30-year-old Semenyih local said he is familiar with the issues affecting the residents and wants to help them address the problems.

“I will focus only on local issues in my campaign,” said the Bersatu Hulu Langat treasurer.

Asked whether the age and seniority of his main opponent Zakaria Hanafi of Barisan Nasional will bother him, Muhammad Aiman acknowledged the challenges.

“My opponent may be older and has more experience with the locals than me but I, too, have many friends in Semenyih.

“A lot of people know me too from the work I have been involved with the party,” he said.

Acknowledging that he is an underdog in the four-corner battle, PSM’s Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul is looking at practical methods in his campaign to reach out to the voters.

“We will increase engagement in social media and publicise our press conferences on local, state and federal issues.

“This way, we can reach out to more people in this large constituency, especially the young,” he said.

Independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng said he contested not because of the desire to enter politics but to serve the people.

“The dream is to bring a better Malaysia – for your mother, for your children, for every one of us.

“It is about giving solutions to the people,” said the social activist who is popularly known as Uncle Kentang or 10-sen man.

Kuan said politicians rarely meet with their constituents and urged those with any problems to see him for help.
