PETALING JAYA: A retiree had a narrow escape after being swarmed by a group of armed robbers on four motorcycles at his house.

The incident, caught on three separate CCTV cameras, showed the robbers rushing towards the victim after he opened his gate.

Redzuan Harun, 56, managed to give the parang-armed robbers the slip by running into his house.

His son Hazran Adli then locked the door.

Hazran was getting ready to go out when he heard his father’s screams.

“It happened so fast. My father only had seconds to save himself from being slashed by the robbers,” he told mStar.

Hazran said the incident took place when his father opened the gate to move his car.

As soon as he noticed robbers entering the compound, Redzuan ran into the house, screaming “perompak, perompak” (robbers).

“I was in the living room at that time, and quickly locked the door.

“The robbers tried to kick the door in a few times before fleeing,” Hazran said.

Visibly shaken from the incident, Hazran said he was grateful his father was safe.

Hazran’s Tweet about his harrowing account, along with a video clip of the incident, has been retweeted more than 8,000 times.

“I hope everyone will be extra careful to avoid falling prey to robbers,” he said.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan said police are on the hunt for the suspects.
