Candidates working hard to convince voters

-

Candidates in the Semenyih by-election have six more days of campaigning left and each is working hard to convince voters why he should be the one to bring the voice of the people to the state assembly.

Pakatan Harapan candidate Muhammad Aiman Zainali feels the reception from local folk has been encouraging and said his campaign team will up the ante in the week leading up to polling day.

“We will be more aggressive, going down to the ground to the villages and meeting voters, and we hope our (performance) will improve.

“We will not be complacent. There are another six days to campaign,” he said.

Barisan Nasional candidate Zakaria Hanafi is doing the same as he continues to meet constituents.

His campaign has been relatively smooth although marred by incidents of mischief and hearsay.

The 56-year-old however has chosen to stay cool.

“It is natural to expect a little mudslinging here and there but I know I must remain focused on finding ways to help the people in Semenyih,” he said on one of his campaign trails.

period has been good and smooth so far, without any attacks or unwanted incidents.

“People are friendly towards PSM,” he said.

While regarding the by-election as a friendly battle, Nik Aziz also expressed disappointment that candidates from Barisan and Pakatan chose to avoid the debate organised by Bersih 2.0.

“But other than that, we campaigned without any problems. The other candidates are also friendly,” said Nik Aziz.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Kuan Chee Heng, said he is taking a more relaxed stance in his campaign and letting his past work do the talking.

The 14-day campaign period kicked off on nomination day and will end at 11.59pm on March 1.
