Groups want action taken against Guan Eng
Party youth wings lodge reports over his ‘racially charged’ remark
PETALING JAYA: Groups are calling for police investigations and other action to be taken against DAP leader Lim Guan Eng over his statement that described the Umno-PAS union as a declaration of war on non-Malays.
The youth wings of Umno, MCA, MIC, PAS and few other organisations lodged a police report against Lim at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters yesterday.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said Lim’s statement was dangerous in a multiracial country because it incited hatred and anger among the races.
Lim owed the nation an apology, he added. On Wednesday, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong slammed Lim’s statement as inflammatory and irresponsible.
He reminded the DAP secretary-general that his party and PAS had cooperated in the past.
“In fact, they were together in forming the Selangor state government for two terms.
“But now, PAS has chosen a new political partner.
“One can condemn the Umno-PAS cooperation, but certainly not to issue such an inflammatory statement that stokes racial discord.
“Be a responsible politician,” Dr Wee had said.
His criticism followed an article in Malaysiakini which reported that Lim had described the pact between Umno and PAS as a declaration of war on non-Malays, adding that the 1Malaysia concept previously championed by Barisan Nasional is now over.
Shortly after on the same day, the news portal revised the article and carried an editor’s note saying Lim, the Finance Minister, had corrected his earlier statement which originally used the words “declare war on non-Malays”.

to sack Lim from his Cabinet.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said his party viewed Lim’s statement with great concern and called on all peace and unity-loving Malaysians to lodge police reports against the Finance Minister for sedition.
“Lim’s statement is dangerous to the harmony, unity and to all systems in the country. PAS is asking Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to sack Lim from the Cabinet before the situation becomes serious,” he said yesterday.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Lim said MCA’s request for him to be investigated did not come as a surprise because it is the political game of the opposition party.
“At the same time, I want to ask how MCA can remain silent when PAS or Umno attacks us because we provide allocations for Chinese schools and how PAS and Umno can remain silent when MCA attacks me over the allocation for religious and tahfiz schools,” he told reporters after launching the Industry Digitalisation Transformation Fund yesterday.
