Fireman uses ciggy to save suicidal man

-

A FIREMAN saved a man from committing suicide by distracting him with a cigarette, China Press reported.

Apparently, the 30-year-old man was trying to jump from the Sultan Ismail bridge in Muar.

A team of nine firemen, upon arriving at the scene, tried to persuade the man, who was seated near the safety railing, to come back in but to no avail.

Finally, one of them offered him a cigarette and as he was about to reach out for it, they quickly pulled him to safety.

However, the next day, the man tried to jump from the bridge again and was rescued by the police.

Both incidents happened during rush hour, causing a bad traffic congestion.

On Feb 20, a woman tried to commit suicide there but was saved.
