IPOH: Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir says he is getting ready for a barrage of allegations and accusations from Pakatan Harapan at the coming Perak state assembly sitting.

The former mentri besar said he expected to be targeted as Pakatan needed to divert attention “from its weaknesses in governing the state”.

“It is also to divert the public’s attention from their failure to fulfil their promises and manifesto,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Zambry urged Pakatan to act like a proper government and not have the mentality of the opposition.

“The welfare and well-being of the people need to be given focus. Their top priority should be to develop the state,” he added.

Zambry also accused Perak Corporation Bhd (PCB) Auditing Committee chairman Chong Zhemin of subjecting him to “trial by media” with his allegations of cost overrun on the Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) project.

He said it was unfair for Chong to make accusations against him through the media daily when the audit on MAPS had not even been completed yet.

Calling Chong’s actions “annoying”, he questioned the motive of the DAP assemblyman.

“I was accused of hiding while these allegations were made.

“Will this auditing process be made professionally or (will it be) just an audit through the media, seeing how Chong has something to say daily?” he asked.

“It’s clear that what they are doing is not to get to the truth but for DAP to exact political revenge against me and the previous Barisan Nasional administration.

“It is also another attempt by DAP to twist this matter for political gain, and not for public benefit,” he added.

Chong had on Saturday revealed that according to a special audit report, the actual cost to develop MAPS was RM607mil, and not RM390mil as originally stated.

He said that an additional RM217mil had to be allocated to fund it.

Chong had repeatedly called out Zambry, challenging him to take responsibility and explain the additional allocation.

Zambry said he was not the chairman of PCB or Animation Theme Park Sdn Bhd at that time.

“I was only the chairman of Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) through my position as the mentri besar.

“PCB is a public-listed company that is monitored closely by Bursa Saham,” he said.

“PCB cannot make any decision without going through proper procedure and permission,” Zambry added.
