They gathered some 850,000 signatures in support of the application.

> A senior citizen climbed up to the roof of a parking area in a residential block in Bishan, Singapore on Tuesday to retrieve a toy plane for his grandson.

China Press reported that he caught the attention of many passers-by who were worried for the safety of the elderly man.

A fire engine was called and it took almost an hour for the firefighters to guide the man down to the ground using a ladder.

The man eventually returned the toy to his grandson before they walked home.

> Guang Ming Daily reported that Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan’s ex-lover Elaine Ng once again had some trouble with her estranged daughter Etta Ng.

The latest incident happened on Wednesday evening with Elaine allegedly calling the police after being unable to contact Etta.

Etta had apparently locked herself in their apartment. Firefighters went knocking on doors at about 11pm, asking if anyone had heard a commotion.

Etta found out afterwards that it was her mother who had alerted the police.

“I’m so embarrassed to trouble the police and firemen over such a small matter, not to mention disturbing the neighbours and landlord. I’m really sorry,” said the 20-year-old.
