Making studying abroad a reality
Education experts to advise students about suitable universities and programmes
PETALING JAYA: If you’re thinking of studying abroad, head over to the Star Education Fair 2019 this weekend to find out how to make it a reality.
Held for the first time at the Sunway Convention Centre, the fair is a one-stop centre for SPM and STPM school-leavers seeking professional advice from counsellors and education experts on the most suitable programmes and pathways, as well as to source for tips from the various education and career talks.
Learn “How To Save on Overseas Degrees” from Netherlands Maritime Institute of Technology’s senior business advisor John Legierse from 12.45pm to 1.15pm, and get to know about “UK Study Opportunities” from Interstudy Education Consultants director Ivan Ong from 1.30pm to 2pm on Sunday.
Ong, who has studied and worked in Britain for 13 years, will touch on the opportunities for Malaysian students and share his experiences of his time there.
“British education is not just about qualifications. It is about the whole student journey and exposure to become global minded citizens.
“Students can learn from my experience and get to know what to expect when they become an international student in Britain.
“My session will provide them with tips on becoming successful international students,” said Ong who will also elaborate about the British education system and job prospects.
Other talks on Sunday include “Study in the USA”, “Pushing Boundaries: The Benefits of Studying Abroad”, “Charting Your Pathway After SPM”, and “What Makes or Breaks Your Chance to Impress Future Employers?”
A session on how to “Earn a Harvard Business Diploma and Explore The World” will also be held from 4.30pm to 5pm on Sunday by Karim Ali Eletre who is the founder and CEO of Crew Lounge – an airline recruitment and cabin crew training academy.
His talk will shed light on earning a Diploma from Harvard Business School, opportunities in the aviation industry and the benefits of being a cabin crew.
“We want to change people’s perception about cabin crew.
“We deal with many challenges in the air, including saving lives,” said Karim who was an engineer before becoming a cabin crew.
A “Career Test & Guidance”, managed by SEGi University & Colleges, is also available on both days. Experienced counsellors will be present to guide students on their test results.
Students can also look for scholarships, fee waivers and bursaries that are available at the event.
