Prabowo team claims 13,000 instances of inconsistency

-

JAKARTA: Volunteers of the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno campaign team claim to have recorded 13,000 instances of inconsistent counting on the General Elections Commission’s (KPU) votecount information system (Situng) on its website.

Volunteer group secretary Dian Islamiati said evidence in the form of 2,500 sheets of inconsistent data entry based on findings from March 27 to May 1 was handed over to the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) yesterday.

She said during the five-day period, the group had verified the data and found 5.7% of inconsistent data from 225,818 polling stations.

“The limit of error in an IT system should be a maximum 0.1% . Meanwhile, we found an error of between 5 and 7%,” Dian said yesterday.

She said three kinds of inconsistencies had been found: the number of votes exceeding the number of voters; the number of votes differing from the total number of valid and invalid votes and unused ballots; and the number of valid votes differing from the total of each candidate pair’s valid votes.

“Thousands of inconsistencies show that the KPU’s Situng system is unreliable and misleading,” she added.

Because of the findings, Said Didu, a Prabowo campaign team member, asked Bawaslu to drop the KPU’s Situng system.

“Bawaslu must immediately drop the KPU Situng and conduct a forensic audit by an independent auditor to avoid public anxiety and mistrust,” he said.

According to the KPU website, the commission’s real count at yesterday afternoon has reached 62% of total votes and the incumbent President Joko “Jokowi” WidodoMa’ruf Amin ticket is leading with 56.02% against Prabowo-Sandiaga’s 43.98%. — Jakarta Post/Asia News Network
