Pupils’ artwork at rest stop
THE Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Gallery will be featuring 44 artworks from primary school pupils inspired by the Rukun Negara.
The sketches and paintings are some of the shortlisted pieces from the Rukun Negara Sketching Competition for pupils from five selected schools along the PLUS highway’s fenceline community.
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) central region business manager Husni Md Yusuf said the competition is meant to instil the spirit of Rukun Negara among the younger generation.
He added that the competition, organised for the first time, is part of PLUS’ National Day and Malaysia Day celebration as a Rakan Negara (Friend of the Nation).
He also said PLUS is focusing on the appreciation of the Rukun Negara by giving Year Four, Five and Six pupils the opportunity to express their understanding of the Rukun Negara in a creative way through visual artwork.
Husni said there are 50 shortlisted art pieces which will be judged by selected judges from the National Art Gallery, National Archives of Malaysia and the Malaysian Highway Authority, together with the public who can view the artworks at the major rest stop.
The judges are creative art agency VMLY&R art director Melody Lee Sook Yin, Malaysian Highway Authority director of human resources and corporate Noradibah Ramli, National Archives of Malaysia head of exhibition section and educational archive Mohd Nasser Malik, National Art Gallery chief curator Mohamad Majidi Amir and PLUS Studio Unit head Najihah Mohd Yasin.
