ANOTHER 755 join the total number of graduates trained by Limkokwing University of Creative Technology since it was set up in Lesotho 12 years ago.

“The Lesotho graduates are future-ready profession­als who are creative and innovative and empowered to become the topnotch in the Kingdom.

“Soon, you will be known for the designs you create, the music you produce, the films you direct, the buildings you design and the fashion statements you make.

“You will be among the most celebrated game changers this country will get to see,” said the university’s founder and president Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing at the recent convocatio­n ceremony.

Of the 755 graduates for the class of 2019, 258 received their honours degree scrolls and 497 their associate degree scrolls.

The graduates were trained at the university’s six faculties namely the Faculty of Architecur­e and Built Environmen­t, Faculty of Business Management and Globalisat­ion, Faculty of Communicat­ion, Media and Broadcasti­ng, Faculty of Design and Innovation, Faculty of Creativity in Tourism and Hospitalit­y and the Faculty of Informatio­n and Communicat­ion Technology. A total of 41 graduates were presented with awards of excellence.

Since the establishm­ent of the university in Lesotho 12 years ago, industries have benefited from a steady stream of graduates nurtured on the grounds of the Maseru campus.

The class of 2019’s convocatio­n ceremony was graced by Lesotho Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso, Deputy Minister Dr Monyane Moleleki as well as nine ministers from the Lesotho Government.

“Limkokwing University Lesotho is transformi­ng our nation and our young citizens by building creative human capital that we need in heading towards a developed nation status,” said Lesotho Minister of Education and Training Prof Ntoi Rapapa.

Meanwhile, 2,322 graduates received their scrolls during the convocatio­n ceremony held at Limkokwing University Botswana.

Of the 2,322 graduates, 381 and 154 received degree and associate degree scrolls respective­ly while the rest got diplomas and certificat­es.

Lim said the graduates will play a distinct role in shaping the future of the country. “You’ll play a defining role in designing the future of Africa, and the world outside of Africa.

“You’ll make Botswana proud,” he said.

Botswana Minister of Tertiary Education Research, Science and Technology Thapelo Olopeng was pleased to note that the university complies with the regulatory requiremen­ts that have been defined by the Botswana Qualificat­ions Authority.

“I wish to urge the leadership of the institutio­n to ensure that they continue to invest in quality programmes that are aligned to the needs of the global world that we are part of,” he said.

In Botswana, Limkokwing University was not only the first private university but also the first global institutio­n of higher education.

Today it has become an integral part of Botswana’s education and industry landscape by producing young and empowered individual­s who are playing a vital role in transformi­ng the Republic’s industries.

With students from across the African continent, Limkokwing Botswana has transforme­d into a regional hub for education.
