PH must work harder in Malay-majority seats, says Negri MB

SEREMBAN: Pakatan Harapan needs to work harder to retain four Malay-majority state seats in Negri Sembilan in the next general election following the pact between Umno and PAS, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

He said Pakatan would have no problem retaining Ampangan, La bu, Klawang and Lenggeng if it continues to serve the people diligently and fulfil pledges made in its GE14 manifesto.

“If all Pakatan members continue to give their best, it will quash speculation that the state will fall to the Opposition in the next general election due to the Umno-PAS pact.

“We in Negri Sembilan may have achieved quite a bit since we came to power some 16 months ago. But we need to do a lot more.

“And we will need to start working from now if we want to retain these seats and form the next state government,” he said at the state DAP convention here yesterday.

Pakatan won 20 of the 36 state seats in GE14.

It was also the first time that Barisan was defeated in the state.

Aminuddin said that despite the Umno-PAS collaboration, he was confident that Pakatan would be able to make inroads into the Barisan strongholds of Gemencheh and Linggi if all members of the coalition worked hard.

“At this stage, we have fulfilled 40% of the pledges made in our last general election manifesto and are working on another 30%,” he said.

“Similarly, it is very important for Pakatan to be seen working as a team and that we are not in any way divided.”

Aminuddin said the state government had been performing better since Pakatan took over the administration with higher investments and more job opportunities created.

“The people can expect even more with Seremban being officially declared a city next January,” he said.
