Inked deal gives guests access to dimsum on demand
PETALING JAYA: Budget hotel guests will soon get to enjoy dimsum video-on-demand (VOD) service on their mobile devices.
This follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) inked between the subscription-based VOD provider and the Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA) to introduce content streaming for hotel entertainment in the country.
Star Media Group chief executive officer Andreas Vogiatzakis and MyBHA deputy president Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel signed the MOU.
Also present at the signing ceremony were dimsum chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim and MyBHA Trade and Commerce Bureau chairman Andy Lau Eng Leong, MyBHA deputy secretary general Abdul Jalal Md Nawi and its executive council member Raymond Woo.
Upon checking in, guests can access the latest Asian entertainment and news through a one-day, three-day, five-day, or seven-day pass at participating hotels registered with MyBHA.
The guests will be given a streaming pass and on activating the provided code they can start streaming on dimsum’s mobile application.
Lam said the collaboration with MyBHA provided an avenue to connect with more hotels in the future.
Ganesh said collaborations with corporate entities would benefit MyBHA members, as it provided opportunities to give better services apart from helping reduce operation cost.
“I urge all hoteliers to unite in making this industry better by joining our association and taking the opportunity to enjoy the benefits.
“We would like to thank dimsum for providing our members their services at a special rate,” he said.
Currently there are 2,300 budget hotels registered with MyBHA.
Their guests could also look forward to streaming dimsum on Hotel Smart TVs starting the first quarter of 2020. Dimsum is currently available in Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. It is accessible on web, mobile and TV applications.
