While it is true that many jobs in the critical service sector are facing an oversupply of profession­als, the same criteria cannot be applied to doctors and dentists who work long and irregular hours. There has to be some exception for such staff and the critical service incentive. – HM, Klang as a new graduate, I would rather have the critical service incentive cut than remain unemployed.

The solution to overly heavy schoolbags is actually simple. Heavy textbooks should be split into two or three volumes; this was done in the past. discontinu­e the use of textbooks for non-marketable subjects; a detailed lesson plan is sufficient for the teachers and they will then be free to use their creativity to teach. Lastly, reduce the number of subjects taught in a day; computer generated time-tables can help in this. – esther

although the Pahang government has given an ultimatum to the illegal farmers to leave, please let them harvest their produce first before the authoritie­s raze them. Would-be farmers who wish to grow food should be helped. Help can be in the form of the supply of seeds, fertilizer­s, expertise, or in the case of those without land, the supply of suitable land. Illegal farmers, as long as they are not growing illegal crops like poppy plants, should be helped towards pursuing farming legally. This will help with the nation’s scarcity of food. – William ong
