100-year-old school plagued by problems
SJK (T) Ladang Jalan Acob in Kapar, Selangor, which has served the Indian community for nearly 100 years, still faces infrastructure issues, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The school is affected by frequent flash floods that disrupt classes.
Recently, the Sementa constituency service centre initiated a cleaning and deepening of the clogged drains around the school with the help of a plantation company.
Parents said that while the effort was appreciated, a more permanent solution was needed.
While flooding was common in the area, the latest incident was severe and affected the school extensively, a former pupil’s father Maniraj Annasamy said.
The road leading to the school also wafts a foul stench since garbage trucks spill leachate as theyhead to a landfill in Jeram.
The frequent heavy traffic is also putting pupils at risk as they have to cross the busy road to use a field for their sports activities.
The pupils have to do this as their own school field is overgrown and not maintained.
