Enhanced MCO on two villages in Kluang

PETALING JAYA: Visitors have been banned from two villages in Kluang, Johor, while residents there were told to stay indoors for the Baaling next two weeks after 61 people in the area were found to be Covid-19 positive. Covid-19

The two villages are Kampung Datuk Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Datuk Ibrahim Majid.

The enhanced movement control order on these two places comes into effect today until April 9. It will involve 3,570 people from 650 families.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said they decided on the move following advice from the Health Ministry.

He said all residents there would not be allowed to step out of their homes during the entire period.

There will also be no visitors to these two villages while all businesses there would be shut down.

Ismail said the Social Welfare Department would supply basic necessities to residents there during this period.

“This is to prevent Covid-19 from spreading further and to enable the authorities to carry out tracking operations from house to house,” he said.

To date, he said, 83 cases of Covid19 had been detected in Kluang.

He added that a medical base would also be set up there while all roads going in and out of the two villages would be closed.

“All residents are requested to remain calm and give their cooperation to Health Ministry staff members. They must obey the orders from the authorities,” he added.
