MR D.I.Y. SUPPLIES PPE TO FRONTLINERS

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Home improvement retailer MR D.I.Y. has responded to the hardship that front liners are facing in the battle against Covid19 by procuring much-needed protective equipment.

MR D.I.Y. assisted The Edge Covid19 Fund to source for 35,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) suits and one million three-ply face masks to bring back to Malaysia.

The company also purchased an additional 1,000 PPE suits to donate to healthcare professionals here.

The PPE suits and face masks were flown in from China by lowcost carrier AirAsia on March 27.

MR D.I.Y. is also providing its logistics teams and delivery fleet to distribute these medical safety equipment to more than 30 hospitals around the country, together with non-governmental organisations Mercy Malaysia, IMARET-Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia, and Malaysian Relief Agency.

“This special humanitarian mission is Corporate Malaysia’s way of giving back, in a very tangible way, to support the heroes at the front line of this war against Covid-19,” said MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Bhd managing director Adrian Ong.

“This outbreak is a sobering reminder of the personal sacrifices these brave men and women are making in their tireless efforts to protect us.

“I wish to thank the team at MR D.I.Y. who has worked under tight deadlines to coordinate the purchase of the items, the logistics and distribution to the hospitals, NGOs and other public services.

“Those involved volunteered their time and effort to rise to the call to meet the needs of our medical frontliners.

“It is my hope that our contribution will go towards protecting our frontline professionals at this crucial time in global history,” said Ong.

Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah public relations head Fatin Hazwani Zainudin said: “We are very grateful for the assistance provided to the hospital in the form of donated protective gear.

“The PPE suits and face masks will definitely help our team who are directly treating Covid-19 patients at our hospital.

“We hope that we get past this pandemic quickly so we could continue our usual daily lives.”

Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban chief assistant director (management) Norizah Mansor said: “We would like to say ‘thank you’ a million times for the aid. We will be forever grateful for the protective equipment donated to us in this time of need.

“We would like to thank MR D.I.Y. for helping the frontliners at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban.”
