Redzuan: I’m not withdrawing support for Perikatan

-

Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof has admitted that he met Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad but maintains that he has no intention to withdraw his support for the Perikatan Nasional government.

Berita Harian quoted the Alor Gajah MP as saying that the meeting took place at the Perdana Leadership Foundation on Friday.

The Minister under the Prime Minister’s Department claimed that he was able to meet with Dr Mahathir despite being under quarantine after getting special clearance from the National Security Council.

“It was a normal meeting, a visit in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri. We are good friends, old friends. There was no discussion on political issues.

“I advised and invited Dr Mahathir to help Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin together as friends to rebuild this country because we are currently facing Covid-19. It wasn’t a meeting about me leaving Perikatan ... That is inaccurate and slander,” he was quoted as saying.

Redzuan is currently under a 14-day quarantine after he attended a post-Cabinet meeting last week, where Auditor-General Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid tested positive for Covid-19.

On Friday, speculation was rife that Redzuan was going to declare support for Dr Mahathir after an invitation for a press conference by him and Deputy Works Minister Datuk Shahruddin Mohd Salleh was sent to the media.

However, a statement issued by Redzuan’s political secretary later denied the rumours.
