TEn police officers and three families members including one child are missing after the Arakan Army (AA), a terrorist group, attacked a police outpost in yathaedaung township in Rakhine state, said Brig-Gen Zaw Min Tun, secretary of the Tatmadaw True news Information Team.

“About 100 AA members attacked a main camp of Thazinmyaing police outpost from the north-west of the camp, with heavy and small arms. The police and the AA exchanged fights,” he said on Friday.

“The AA insurgent group is making constant attacks on non-military targets such as police stations and police members who are responsible for the country’s law enforcement,” he added.

“The AA disrupts and destroys rule of law, security and smooth operation of roads and peace and tranquillity.

“The Tatmadaw will carry out effective counter-terrorism operations against the AA.”

Since July last year, the AA had attacked four police outposts in Buthidaung township, yoetayoke police outpost in Ponnagyun township, police headquarters in Mrauk-u township and nyaungchaung police outpost in Buthidaung township.

The attacks killed 25 police officers and injured 16 others.
