Selangor PKR chief not upset with party leavers

-

SHAH ALAM: Selangor PKR chief Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is not perturbed by the departure of some state members and leaders from the party recently.

“I am confident that (Dr Daroyah and her supporters) were the last.

“We still have 10 elected and appointed members in the committee (in the Kapar division) who want to remain in the party and continue with the state Pakatan Harapan government’s aspirations,” said Amirudin.

PKR women deputy chief and Selangor women’s wing chief Dr Daroyah Alwi, who is from the party’s Kapar division, had left PKR earlier this month together with several other division leaders.

The Sementa assemblyman said her reason for leaving was due to the loss of confidence in the party’s ideals and leadership.

Amirudin, who is also Selangor mentri besar, said he did not think there would be more party members leaving PKR in the state.

He said many leaders had also left the party in the past but PKR had prevailed and remained strong.

Amirudin, who spoke to reporters after the launch of the Selangor Digital e-Supply Chain (Seldec) at the state secretariat yesterday, also added that the recent departure was only a small matter.

“For me, it’s just a small ripple which does not create a big impact on Selangor Keadilan,” said Amirudin.

He added that when leaders had departed from the party in the past, PKR had simply moved on and achieved greater heights such as winning the last general election.

However, he added that what had transpired was also a good lesson for the party. He said PKR would continue standing tall and remain the people’s representative in achieving the reform agenda.

According to Amirudin, PKR had expelled quite a number of people in recent times over various issues.

“In Selangor, more than 100 people were either levelled with disciplinary action over their conduct or left on their own accord,” said Amirudin.

He reiterated that it was time for PKR to move on and not look back on those who had left the party.
