Theme parks including water parks have been allowed to reopen their businesses beginning tomorrow.

The green light involves 54 theme parks with a workforce of more than 10,000.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the park operators must follow the Covid-19 preventative guidelines including ensuring visitors observe social distancing at all times.

“They are also to limit their visitors based on the capacity and space of the venues.

“The temperature must be taken and hand sanitisers must be provided.

“As for visitors, they must register their details via the MySejahtera app,” he said at his regular briefing yesterday.

Ismail said water park operators also need to follow the SOP and guidelines issued by local authorities pertaining to the management and maintenance of public pools as well as pool water quality monitoring.

“The SOP and guidelines are available on the National Security Council and the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry websites,” he said.

Ismail added that visitors of shopping malls would need to have their temperatures checked only once – upon entering the malls.

However, mall-goers were still required to provide their personal details, either manually or through the MySejahtera app, to each shop they enter in the mall.

“This is for contact-tracing purposes in the event of a positive Covid-19 case detected in the shop. The same rule applies to hotels as well.

“Inside the hotel there are restaurants, maybe there is a souvenir or clothing store.

“So if you are in a hotel, your temperature only needs to be checked once at the entrance,” he said.

Earlier, Ismail announced that pre-schools and kindergartens can resume operations from July 1, subject to strict compliance with the standard operating procedure.

He said the Education Ministry had tabled the SOP for this at the special Cabinet meeting on nonhealth related issues pertaining to the movement control order.

There are 6,216 pre-schools under the Education Ministry, 7,887 private pre-schools and kindergartens, 1,781 under the National Unity Ministry and 8,335 of such facilities under the Rural Development Ministry.
