The Star Malaysia

Syabas to two wonderful staff members

- HEERAN KAUR Petaling Jaya

I AM writing to express my sincere gratitude to Nik Norhainisma Nik Mud (Anis) and Noor Haslin Shazwina Che Musa (Haslin) of the Malaysian Board of Counsellors (LKM). I am a recently minted counsellor registered with and licensed by LKM. For the uninitiated, it’s a long road to getting licensed and registered with the board. It was during that process that I became acquainted with Anis and Haslin.

I had liaised with Anis for several months prior to my interview day in Putrajaya, where I joined 80 other candidates. My slot was in the afternoon and when I arrived, there was a power outage. Anis and Haslin worked tirelessly to help candidates fill up their forms manually, aided only by light from the windows. The whole time they maintained their cool while working in a stuffy and dim space. When my turn came, I asked after them and discovered they hadn’t even taken time for lunch. Oh, and did I mention that Anis was pregnant?

Soon after that, the movement control order (MCO) kicked in and work ground to a halt. It was only after the recovery MCO period began that I was able to collect my paperwork. I discovered that Anis was on maternity leave but she still liaised with me and had very professionally passed on my file to Haslin to follow through.

This has been one of the most pleasant experiences I have had with officialdom. It is only right that credit be given where it is due. These two exemplary women are gems in our civil service and their departments ought to be proud to be represented by such staff.

On my part, this letter is the least I can do to acknowledge their dedication. I urge all Malaysians to highlight such staff members whenever you come across them so that they know that their sincerity and dedication is valued. Terima kasih, Anis and Haslin.
