UTAR digital Open Day on
A CYBER Open Day will be held by Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) throughout August, except on public holidays.
From at 9am until 5pm, students and parents can explore UTAR’s campuses through virtual tours and learn about the university’s academic programmes, course structures, career paths, entry requirements and scholarships, as well as student support and study permit application.
“The digital platform is accessible anytime and anywhere via any device, including mobile phones.
“Students can also learn about each faculty by engaging in live chats with programme advisors,” UTAR said in a statement.
Varsity staff and expert consultants will assist students and parents in providing information and guidance.
In addition, a webinar session on career guidance will be held today for the English language session and Aug 15 for the Mandarin session.
The sessions, UTAR said, aim to provide students with a better understanding of their personalities and assist them in choosing the right programme.

Since the movement control order (MCO) started in March, the varsity has conducted over 400 educational webinars that were viewed by more than 300,000 local and international participants.
The aim of the webinars, UTAR said, is to ensure that the time spent at home also incorporates intellectual pursuits, knowledge acquisition and critical thinking in various areas of interest.
The webinars covered topics such as medical knowledge and understanding of the pandemic, and how to boost immunity to stay healthy during the MCO.
As mental, physical and emotional health, as well as stress management, were among the public’s concerns during the MCO, webinars related to these issues were conducted to create an avenue for the public to participate and seek answers to their questions.
“It also provided guidelines for a more peaceful, healthy and harmonious environment at home.
“Free online counselling services were also provided by UTAR’s qualified counsellors to its staff and students during the MCO; these services are still on-going.
“Webinars on healthy rest and nutrition were also conducted to ensure the good health of everyone,” the university said in a statement, adding that its academics and staff had gathered resources, collaborated with local and international industries, university partners, and SME professionals to conduct insightful webinars.
Additionally, online teaching and learning from home has become the daily norm for its academics and students.
“To accommodate the process of online teaching and learning, we conducted webinars, online tutorials and posted information on the university website to teach students how to use online communication and learning tools.
“This was to facilitate online learning and communication between lecturers and students at home.”
