PETALING JAYA: What seemed like puppy love at first blossomed into a romance that ended happily in marriage.

This is the story of a pair of newlyweds who have known each other from when they were in Form Four which led them to tie the knot about 10 years later.

Muhammad Harris Lilon and Nur Alya Sabariah Mohd Ali, both 25, had a wedding photoshoot at the place where they first met – SMK Bandar Samariang in Kuching, Sarawak.

Harris said it was his wife who thought of the idea to organise the photoshoot at their old school, and they hired a photographer to turn the idea into reality.

“My wife transferred to my school when we were in Form Four. Our classes were next to each other and that was how we knew each other.

“When we were doing our photoshoot in school, it really stirred up old memories. I couldn’t believe that I have known her for 10 years already. From the days we were studying until we started work, and now we are married.

“From ‘A’ to ‘Z’, it all happened here at the school. At first I thought it was just puppy love, but who knew that she would become the love of my life,” he told The Star’s Malaylanguage portal, mStar.

The two-hour photoshoot, he said, was made even more meaningful with the attendance of the teachers who used to teach them.

“They agreed to let us take photos in the classrooms,” he said.

According to Harris, his love for Alya had deepened because she was willing to go through life’s ups and downs with him.

“When I was starting from the very bottom, from when we were studying until we were working, she was always there with me.

“She didn’t mind it during the days when I didn’t have a car or a motorcycle. We went through the good and the bad times together,” he said.

The Iban-Malay couple tied the knot on July 24.

The wedding photos were taken by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak student Mohd Hapizan, or Appy, and have since gotten over 3,100 retweets on Twitter.
