Disunity a recipe for failure, says Tok Mat

TANJUNG MALIM: Umno should close ranks on the issue of the Sabah state election leader because disunity is a recipe for failure, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pic).

The Umno deputy president said it was more important having all members united and focused on winning the state election.

“All members should accept the decision that has been made by the party leadership with an open heart.

“We must understand that who the leader is, is not important, but the party’s victory should be our main priority in any election or by-election.

“The party’s priority comes first and we should not be disunited. It is a recipe for failure,” he said after a walkabout with Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz at shops in Slim River town yesterday.

The Rantau assemblyman, who is fondly known as Tok Mat, said Barisan was facing a great challenge to take over Sabah from Parti Warisan Sabah.

“It’s not easy to win in Sabah because we are facing the current state government that has the upper hand.

“They will be using all the strengths and advantages they have to defend their reign.

“Therefore, we must work hard to make sure the people and voters support us,” he said.

Earlier, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that all parties should respect the pary’s decision to appoint Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin as Barisan’s Sabah election chief.

Ahmad Zahid’s response came after Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan objected to having Bung Moktar lead the Barisan machinery.
