TANJUNG MALIM: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is expected to make an announcement on the registration status of Perikatan Nasional soon, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
There are so far five parties registered in the coalition – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, PAS and component parties from
Barisan Nasional, he said.
He, however, noted that not the entire Barisan coalition was in Perikatan.
Azmin did not state the names of the parties.
“Let’s wait for the Prime Minister to announce it later,’’ he said after visiting the Slim by-election media centre in Slim River here yesterday.
Azmin, who is Perikatan information chief, said the coalition was open to the possibility of other parties joining it and forming a greater force, in efforts to ensure that the country’s economy was stable and that the well-being of the people was safeguarded.
“We cannot deny that Perikatan has managed to solve many national crises ranging from economics and politics to health matters.
“We should accept the fact that Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s leadership is the best so far in leading the country towards recovery,’’ he said, adding that this should be made known to the people in Slim.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, who was also present, said that Barisan candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz had a good chance to stand out in Slim.
‘’I can feel the good vibes from the close cooperation from all parties whenever I am on the ground,’’ he said.
