EMCO in Pahang locality lifted two days earlier

-

PETALING JAYA: The enhanced movement control order in Bandar Muadzam Shah, Pahang, is ending two days ahead of schedule.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision to lift the order today was made as there were no more pending tests.

The enhanced MCO took effect on Feb 9 and was slated to end on Feb 22.

“The Health Ministry has so far conducted 886 Covid-19 tests, with 36 positive cases recorded.

“However, the ministry has also confirmed that the infection rate in the locality is now under control, with the last positive case recorded on Feb 4.

“There are no more samples pending results,” he said in his daily statement yesterday.

On current enforcement statistics, Ismail Sabri said a total of 404 people were issued compounds yesterday, with 39 people remanded.

Of that total, 136 people were found to have not practised social distancing measures.

Meanwhile, under Ops Benteng, enforcement agencies arrested 39 illegal immigrants while also seizing a boat and two vehicles, he added.

SEPANG: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will assist target groups such as senior citizens and people with disabilities to register for Covid-19 vaccination.

Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said her ministry had also asked the government to give vulnerable groups such as senior citizens priority in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme because they were in the high-risk category.

“We will help facilitate the registration because it is important that everyone gets vaccinated so that we can return to normal life,” she told the media after visiting Pusat Jagaan dan Rawatan Orang Tua Al-Ikhlas here yesterday.

Under the ministry’s target group, a total of 68,003 people – comprising 48,564 senior citizens and 19,439 registered people with disabilities – will be vaccinated in the second phase of the programme, which is expected to begin in April.

Rina expressed hope that senior citizens and people with disabilities living in private care centres and non-governmental organisations would also be given priority in the second phase of the immunisation programme.

According to her, there are currently 576 care centres for the elderly and people with disabilities under the private sector and NGOs, registered with the Social Welfare Department, with a population of 15,818 people and managed by 3,238 caregivers. — Bernama
