PETALING JAYA: Three days after her cat was found brutally killed, Mur Salina Junaidi is still haunted by the images of the feline with its four paws dismembered.

“To the wrongdoer, my cat’s pain is now over but it lasts for us and may it haunt you till the end,” said the 20-year-old office worker.

“My family is still trying to cope with grief after Cantik’s death,” she said when contacted yesterday.

Salina’s family named the furry friend “Cantik” for her beautiful figure.

Cantik was also the only female cat in their house in Taman Harmoni, Gombak.

Cantik was found in a box, wrapped with newspaper, at the back of her uncle’s car nearby her house.

The incident sparked outrage among animal lovers on social media with many urging harsh punishment for the suspects who treated the feline inhumanely.

Salina said as the family was devastated by the loss of the cat, they were keeping their five other cats safe in their cages.

For now, she is grateful to the help offered by NGOs searching for the person who killed her cat.

“I would like to thank the NGOs who reached out to aid in searching for the ferocious culprit(s).

“As we are not able to do so ourselves because there are no CCTV recordings near the house or witnesses, the assistance rendered by many parties to shed light into the death is much appreciated,” she said.

A report had been lodged at the Gombak police station on Friday.

Salina added that the family was anxiously waiting for the updates from Shah Alam Veterinary department where the case was referred to for further investigation.
