Sabahans made right choice in voting GRS, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: The various kinds of assistance rolled out by the Federal Government to counter the crippling effect of the Covid-19 pandemic have helped ease the burden of Sabahans, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in Tawau.

Sabahans made the right choice in supporting Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) that had effectively built good relations with the Perikatan Nasional-led Federal Government, he added.

The GRS victory in the 16th state election has paved the way for understanding and creation of a stronger cooperation between the state government and central government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Sabah receives various kinds of assistance to improve the economy, development and well-being of the people, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. This proves that the interests and needs of Sabah are a priority for the Federal Government.

“Therefore, on behalf of the GRS government and all the people of this state, we congratulate the Prime Minister on the success and assistance to the people of this country, especially when facing challenges of the pandemic,” he said in a statement marking the one-year anniversary of Malaysia Prihatin yesterday.

In his speech commemorating Perikatan’s one-year anniversary in power, Muhyiddin said that with border control high in the government’s agenda, additional high-tech assets would be placed along the borders, including Sabah, through the five-front approach.

Apart from that, he said the Federal Government, together with relevant agencies, had taken steps to boost Internet connectivity particularly in Sabah and Sarawak with the National Digital Network or Jendela initiative in the 12th Malaysia Plan.
