IT was not just Kuala Lumpur that reported a hailstorm, a town in northern Kedah also experienced one on Wednesday, China Press reported.

According to videos taken by residents in Changlun, a town in Kedah 10km south of the Thai border, the incident happened around 7pm and lasted for about 15 minutes.

Hailstones came down together with rain and littered the area with marble-sized ice pellets.

Many locals picked them up and took photos that they posted online.

No injuries were reported from the hailstorm.

On the same day, parts of Cheras in KL experienced a hailstorm at around 5.20pm.

The Meteorological Department said although such occurrences were rare, hailstorms do happen in Malaysia.

Hailstones are formed when raindrops are carried upward by thunderstorm updrafts into extremely cold areas of the atmosphere and freeze.

> Hong Kong actress Ada Choi had to cut short filming recently after she was bitten by a dog on a variety show and had to be sent to hospital, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Photos of the 47-year-old being rushed to the hospital were leaked online, raising concerns among her fans.

She later wrote on her Weibo account, assuring the public that she was fine.

“I didn’t want to say much but many of my friends were worried about me.

“I’m lucky that the wound was not serious. The doctor recommended that I be given a rabies shot,” she wrote.

> Despite being eight months’ pregnant, Hong Kong actress Myolie Wu is showing no signs of slowing down, the daily also reported.

The 41-year-old former second runner-up to the Miss Hong Kong pageant was recently seen making an appearance at a public event at Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay.

It was reported that she made more than three million yuan (RM1.87mil) in just three months in China recently.

Wu said she was expected to deliver at the end of this month.
