Drastic surge in cases in several parts of Sabah and Pahang

JAYA: The enhanced movement control order has been imposed on several parts of Tawau, Kota Belud and Sandakan in Sabah, and in Temerloh (Pahang) after drastic increases in Covid-19 cases there.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the enhanced MCO will last from April 14-27 in Flat Sim-Sim, Mukim Beerhala and Kampung Sungai Obar, Mukim Sentosa in Sandakan.

The enhanced MCO was enforced in Taman Villa MAS, Tawau, after seven positive cases were detected in 42 screenings, he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the Health Ministry had detected a big increase in cases within a week and there were still another 35 screenings whose results were not yet out.

In Pahang, Ismail Sabri said, the enhanced MCO would cover four villages: Kampung Paya Pulai Tengah, Kampung Pulau Terap, Paya Pulai-Kampung Batu 4, and Paya Pulai-Kampung Batu 5, Jalan Maran.

This comes after 16 positive cases were detected from 234 screenings, he added.

Ismail Sabri also announced that the enhanced MCO in Kampung Ranggu Batu 10 in Tawau, Sabah, would be extended to April 28 after 66 positive cases were detected from 265 screenings.

Another 122 samples were still awaiting results, he added.

The enhanced MCO in Taman Semarak in Tawau, Sabah, was also extended to April 28 after eight positive cases were detected from 160 screenings, he said, adding that there were another 99 samples that were still awaiting results.

The enhanced MCO on Kampung Baru Pasir Putih in Tawau, Sabah, was similarly extended to April 28 after 68 positive cases were detected from 847 screenings, while 441 samples are still awaiting results.

Finally, the enhanced MCO in Kampung Simpang 3A in Tawau, Sabah, was extended to April 29 after 28 cases were detected from 745 screenings.
