Man kills his lover who is a mother of two young boys

-

IPOH: Two young boys who saw their mother being stabbed ran to a neighbour’s house to seek help.

“They came to my house and told me that ‘uncle’ is stabbing their mother. I told my father to bring them into the house before running over to their place,” said the 42-yearold neighbour, identified only as Laishmi.

She claimed that she saw a woman lying still on the floor with a man nearby.

“I asked him to stop but instead he shut the door and locked it,” she said, recounting the incident on Wednesday night.

Perak CID chief Asst Comm Anuar Othman said the siblings, aged six and eight, were with their mother at their home in Tambun when a man came in and stabbed her.

He said the 31-year-old woman was preparing dinner then.

According to Comm Anuar, the siblings managed to slip away and sought help from their neighbour.

It is believed that the victim, a single mother who worked at an old folks home, was attacked by her 23-year-old unemployed boyfriend.

“Upon arriving at the location, we found a woman and a man lying in the hall of the house, both covered in blood.

“We found stab wounds on their chest and body. The woman was declared dead, while the man is in a critical condition,” he said, adding that the police found a knife believed to be the weapon that was used in the assault.

He said the police had yet to determine whether the wounds on the man were self-inflicted or were caused by someone else.

“The man has been harassing the victim and was arrested by the police earlier in March for trespassing into her house.

“He is being treated at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and police will arrest him.

“We will also call other witnesses, including the children, to help with the investigation,” he said.

For now, he said police were assuming that the couple had problems in their relationship.

A relative of the victim said that she was very private about her personal matters.

“She didn’t tell us or her mother that she was dating anyone,” she said, adding that the victim divorced her husband several years ago,

“Her mother called me last night (Wednesday night). She was in tears, telling me about what had happened,” she said when met at the victim’s home yesterday.

She said the boys were now under the care of their grandmother.
