Police to request for Interpol’s Red Notice to locate and arrest Nicky

LUMPUR: Police will request for Interpol’s Red Notice to locate and arrest fugitive businessman Datuk Seri Nicky Liow, says Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

The Johor police chief said they believed Liow was still hiding in the country.

“We are widening our search for the suspect via Interpol Blue and Red Notices.

“If he is still in Malaysia, we are confident of arresting him,” he told reporters after presenting a donation to civilian personnel Nor Fazlena Afizal, whose daughter was diagnosed with eye cancer at Hospital Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Liow is high on the police wanted list for alleged money laundering activities and involvement in an organised crime syndicate.

The Red Notice refers to a request to help locate and detain a person of interest.

Recently, Deputy InspectorGeneral of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said Bukit Aman had requested Interpol’s assistance via Blue Notice to locate, identify or collect information on Liow.

On a related matter, Comm Ayob said no more warnings would be given to police officers and personnel, suspected to be involved with crime syndicates.

“No compromise, no warning, just stern action against bad apples,” he said.

With the name list of enforcement personnel said to be involved with Liow’s syndicate having expanded, Comm Ayob said he was determined to arrest “each and every one of them”.

“I cannot disclose their ranks or the exact number involved.

“But I can assure the public that we are focused on cleaning up the police force from those on the take and to ensure that justice is served,” he said.

On the donation for Nor Fazlena’s daughter – Norafiyaah Mikayla Mohd Asnadi – Comm Ayob said the Johor police managed to raised nearly RM16,300 while Tabung Kebajikan Amal Perkep Tunku Laksamana contributed some RM3,000.
