Cordero unable to return to Sabah, home utilities cut

VETERAN Hong Kong singer-actress-host Maria Cordero has not returned to her home in Kota Kinabalu for more than a year.

She was unable to pay the utility bills in time and as a result, the water and electricity supplies were cut, Guang Ming Daily reported.

In a live broadcast, Cordero revealed she had asked the management of the residential area to pay the utility bills for her in advance but was told that this procedure was disallowed.

“I am distressed. I don’t know if I will fly to my home in Sabah in future ... how many days will it take to clean up the house?” she said.

Cordero chose to buy a property in Sabah because she found the environment quiet, which is suitable for leisure and relaxation.

She recalled the good times spent in Sabah with her Portuguese husband Rick da Silva, who passed away last November.

“Both of us love Sabah. Malaysia is like my second home.

To generate income, some property owners in Osaka have resorted to renting out their space for undertakers to keep dead bodies.

The move has made neighbours unhappy but there are no rules prohibiting such rentals.

Residents nearby only realised it after seeing bodies covered in white shrouds being moved in and out of the premises.

The homestay owners responded by saying the move was only temporary as they waited to sell their properties.
