Drug peddling schoolgirl, 16, arrested

MELAKA: A 16-year-old schoolgirl who is suspected to be a drug peddler in Sungai Udang here was arrested by police together with her boyfriend, who is 30 years her senior.

Melaka narcotics chief Supt Zulkiflee Rashid said the two were arrested while they were waiting for addicts to collect their drugs in Sungai Udang at 6am yesterday.

“The raid was initiated by my team with reinforcement from Melaka Tengah police,” he said.

Supt Zulkiflee said the girl told investigators she was in love with the 46-year-old man and allegedly has been active in drug peddling since last month.

He said the man, a widower with two children, had 11 previous criminal records for various offences.

Police confiscated 127.3g of a substance believed to be heroin.

“The two also tested positive for drugs,” he said.

Both have been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
