GEORGE TOWN: A cook charged with murdering his wife appeared calm and composed in court despite having admitted to committing the crime last week.

Daneesh Xavier Francis Xavier was steady in the dock and nodded that he understood the murder charge at a Magistrate’s Court here.

The 34-year-old was charged with pushing his 35-year-old insurance agent wife, S. Primila, both originally from Johor, out of a window from the 18th floor of their rented condominium in Ayer Itam.

Based on the charge sheet, Daneesh is accused of committing the crime around midnight on April 10.

He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.

No plea was recorded from Daneesh after the charge was read to him before magistrate Jamaliah Abd Manap.

Deputy public prosecutor Yazid Mustaqim Roslan prosecuted while Daneesh was unrepresented.

Jamaliah set June 26 for case mention.

Last week, police arrested Daneesh after he admitted to pushing his wife out of the window of their condominium unit, which resulted in her death.

It was reported that George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said the police received a call from MERS 999 that a woman had fallen from a condominium in Ayer Itam on April 10.

“The forensics laboratory division from Penang police headquarters and the K9 unit went to the scene.

“During a preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to pushing his wife out the window in the living room after a fight with her.

“He suspected that she was having an affair. They had been married for a year but had no children.

“The cause of death was multiple injuries consistent with a fall from a great height,” he had said.
